Canadian Members of Parliament voting records (finally) online:
Ontario Drivers’ Cell Phone Ban Passes Legislature, Law Takes Effect Fall, 2009:
How does the new 0.25% bank rate affect you?:
“The Bank of Canada yesterday cut its key interest rate to 0.25 per cent, its lowest level ever, and said it would likely stay there until next year.
Business reporter Ann Perry explains what this really means”.
Brace for U.S. protectionism: federal adviser:
“Canada must brace for an unprecedented wave of American protectionism launched under the banner of environmental action, a federal adviser warns, urging Conservatives to quickly align their climate-change plans with Washington’s. The protectionist policies working their way through the U.S.”
U.S. Homeland and McCain falsely claim 911 terrorists came through Canada:
From greenjenny @ Canada’s World:
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
By now I suspect everyone’s heard of U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s gaffe Monday when she perpetuated the oft-repeated yet completely incorrect notion that 9/11 terrorists entered the U.S. from Canada. This story has been repeated so often that apparently our embassy there has a chart of incidents and issues a stock refutation to the media every time it happens.
What made the incident especially newsworthy this time may just be that it happened in the post-Bush era – and the fact that it came from someone who really, really should have known better.
From Lee-Anne Goodman @ Metro:
“Well, some of the 9-11 hijackers did come through Canada, as you know,” McCain, last year’s Republican presidential candidate, said on Fox News on Friday. The Arizona senator’s remarks prompted the Canadian embassy to immediately reissue remarks made earlier this week by Ambassador Michael Wilson, who reminded Americans once again that no 9-11 perpetrators came to the U.S. via Canada.
