Do prefixes ending in ‘e’ require a hyphen if the root word begins with ‘e’?

If you thought that a live action reenactment of the Garfield comic strip would be stupid and awkward … well, you’d be right.

I will also preemptively give you Garfield minus Garfield; otherwise everyone and their orange cat will post it in the comments section.
