Last night I watched American Psycho.

For those of you that have seen the film, what the flapjack was going on?

  1. The butler DIDN’T do it. That’s the crazy part.

  2. yu r not helpful :\

  3. See, there’s this dude? And he has issues. Okay!

  4. I really like the movie, but I agree that it’s a little more ambigious. I like the book by Bret Easton Ellis a little better because it actually makes it a little clearer in the end that it’s all in Patrick’s head. But it’s got some cool scenes, including one on the beach, that didn’t make it into the movie. Personally, I thought it was like a fucked up version of Bonfire of the Vanities, in terms of writing style. Both are good reads if you’re looking for something new from the library/used book store.

  5. It depends on your definition of “help”. If by “help’ you mean “doing anything to add her two cents worth with a total disregard for fact” then I most certainly am.

  6. So what do you think the deal was with Paul Allen/Owen? Did he exist? Was Patrick Bateman also Paul Allen?

I’m wondering if maybe Paul Allen was the “sane” side of Bateman.

  7. Hmmm…it’s been a while since I read the book and watched the movie, but if I remember correctly that Paul Allen actually existed, and part of the deal was that Paul and Patrick were so similar in their yuppie-dom as to be interchangable in a lot of people’s heads, and that fucked with Patrick’s vision of himself. Paul Allen could have been Patrick Bateman, and vice versa, but it just didn’t turn out that way.

Damn, now I have to hunt down whoever has my copy and get it back. I want to read it again!

  8. “I’m the goddamn Bateman, okay?”
