(a) She has a beard. Wrong Word / FalseHe has a beard.

(b) She is wearing a ring. Wrong Word / False – “A ring” means jewelry for a person’s finger. She is wearing earrings.

(c) A couple are drinking together. Maybe? – We don’t know if they are a couple. We also don’t know if the man is drinking.

(d) They are both using their left hands. Correct

(a) There is a mannequin in this picture. Correct – You can see its head over the right shoulder of the man in front.

(b) The man in front is wearing only a loincloth. Maybe? – He might also be wearing shoes.

(c) Many people are taking pictures. Wrong Word – The image shows two people with cameras. That is not enough to use the word ‘many’.

(d) Everyone except the man in front is wearing a white shirt. False – The woman farthest left is not.

(4) Puente de Piedra

(a) This is a good spot to go fishing. Maybe? – Maybe there are fish in the water and maybe there are not.

(b) This is an example of a suspension bridge. False – A suspension bridge uses cables suspended between towers.

(c) The water is very still. Correct – When water is ‘still’, there are no waves.

(d) The ridge is made of stone. Wrong Word – The bridge is made of stone.

(5) Stare Down

(a) On the left of this picture is a set of doors that opens automatic when the train stops. Wrong Word – The doors will open automatically (adverb), not automatic (adjective).

(b) The train is underground. Maybe? – It’s dark, so maybe they are underground. But maybe it’s just night time.

(c) The man in front is wearing a striped shirt. False – The pattern is called plaid.

(d) The man in front is wearing a plaid shirt. Correct

(6) Cabeça a Prêmio

(a) This photograph is a little bleary. Wrong Wordblurry, not bleary

(b) Some of the tiles are different colors. Correct – I’m referring to the floor tiles.

(c) The man in front is wearing striped pants. Wrong Word – The man is wearing shorts.

(d) The photographer has cut out the head of the man in front. Wrong Word – The man’s head has been cut off. In this case, “cut off” means that the photographer did not fit the man’s head into the picture.

(7) Sit a spell

(a) The man with the pipe is the oldest. Maybe? – The other two men might be older.

(b) The man with the pipe is in profile. Correct – In this case, “in profile” means looking at a face from the side.

(c) We are looking at the right face of the man with the pipe. Wrong Word – We are looking at the right side of the man’s face.

(d) The foreground is out of focus. Wrong Word / False – The background is out of focus.

(a) The man in this picture has bare feet. Correct

(b) The two shoes are facing each other. False – The shoes are side by side.

(c) This man has no socks. Wrong Word / Maybe? – He is not wearing socks right now, but he might have some.

(d) The shoelace spells out the word “home”. Wrong Word – Singular/Plural – shoelaces

(a) The jockey’s sleeves have horizontal stripes. Wrong Word – The sleeves have vertical stripes.

(b) The jockey has been riding for hours. Maybe / Wrong Word – Did you see the word horse instead of the word hours? Look again.

(c) The fence wood keep the horses on the track. Wrong Wordwood and would

(d) The jockey is wearing goggles. Correct – to protect his eyes.

(10) 700

(a) The man is sitting at space number 7000. Wrong Word – He is at space 700, not 7000.

(b) The numbers are in alphabetical order. Wrong Word – The numbers are in numerical order, of course.

(c) The man looks bored. Correct – It’s a matter of opinion of course, but I think that he looks bored.

(d) Vancouver Moose is the most handsome moose in all of Vancouver. Correct – But that doesn’t have anything to do with this picture.
